Access Chemung

Access Chemung is a private pay option for curb to curb bus service connecting seniors (60 and older) or a person with disability with wheelchair accessible transportation to employment and non-Medicaid medical appointments.*  You must be an approved applicant to utilize this service.

Cost: The fare is $15 each way and service will be provided by a wheelchair accessible bus.  If you do not require accessible transportation, there are other services such as taxi, which may be a more economical option.

Service Area: Service is provided within Chemung County and to Robert Packer Hospital or Corning Hospital. Service is curb to curb, and there is no additional charge for an aide or family member who may be accompanying you for your appointment.

Service Days/Times: Reservations are requested 3 days in advance, but not later than 2 PM the day prior to the needed ride. Service hours are: Monday – Friday 5:30 AM-8:30 PM. Reservations may be made from 8:00 AM-4:00 PM. A time will be set to pick-up for your return trip; however, if you are finished early or late, call 734-5211 to adjust your pick up time.

How the Access Chemung Program Exists Today: This transportation option was developed to fill a gap in service identified by residents and the Chemung County Coordinated Transportation Committee.  Accessible transportation is difficult for people who do not live on bus routes or are not covered by Medicaid to access critical medical care.  Current accessible transportation can be more expensive and this service is intended to be an additional accessible transportation option.

* Some restrictions apply.  Call (607) 378-1004 for details.

On Request Stop Service

On selected routes, places such as nursing and/or health care facilities, schools, apartment complexes, and other institutions have been established as "on request" stops. To use the On Request Stop Service, riders can either direct their request to the Bus Operator upon boarding the bus for their trip or by calling Customer Service at 607-734-5211. Phone requests must be made two (2) hours in advance.

Route Deviation Service Program

C TRAN offers curbside pick-up service through is Route Deviation/Demand Response Service Program.  Route Deviation is available if you are within 3/4 of a mile of a bus route.  The fare is double the regular fixed route fare, $3.50 for regular fare and $1.70 if you qualify for half fare and only cash for the deviation is accepted. To schedule a Route Deviation trip, call Customer Service at (607) 734-5211 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. For next day service, your request must be made by 5:00 p.m. the previous day. Route and Stop Announcements

The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) requires the announcement of all time points, transfer points, and points that service more than one route. C TRAN Bus Operators will announce all such time points and transfer points listed on public schedules approximately 1/2 block in advance.
